Gamaya: Restore The Legend
Tileable floor and wall textures
Textures for modular assets
Workflow: Here is the basic process for creating props for Gamaya: Restore The Legend. This game features characters that the player navigates on a path by clicking the surrounding area near the hero from a tactical point of view. 1. First the paths and metrics are fleshed out by design. Primitive shapes are used to block out some of the structures and are color coded. 2. Each unique structure then goes through a 'draw over' phase by the concept artist. 3. Some props were outsourced to create early drafts to help save time. Meanwhile camera boxes are set along the path in Unity using a proprietary camera tool to determine the best view of the action. 4. The props then enter the final phase where the mesh is play tested to check for player navigation obstruction. If the prop mesh works fine then UV mapping is applied with a rough texel density of 512. I used Mudbox to sculpt a more dense mesh for texture baking and Photoshop for texture editing. 5. We finish by adding effects, attaching scripts and applying a collision mesh if required then place the prop in the game for further play testing. Please click an image to enlarge. |
